Place & story
The church’s later additions
The Church of the Immaculate Conception at Bunnafollistran was completed with financial help from Margaret Higgins, a Sister of Charity and sister of the local landowner. The diocesan account records an extension and renovation in 1944. In 1963, John Harte of Mounthenry donated a bell, installed in a new belfry. [2]
A school extended in 2004
The Department of Education’s 2007 inspection dates Glencorrib National School’s building to 1952. A 2004 extension added an office and general-purpose room to its two classrooms. At the inspection, the mixed school had 28 pupils, all drawn from the Glencorrib area. [3]
