Place & story
Building the grounds
De La Salle GAA Club purchased sixteen acres at Gracedieu East in 2004, on the former Kearney farm. Its development account records rock-breaking and earth-moving before grass was sown in autumn 2005. Games and training began in 2007, followed by the club’s full move in summer 2008. The grounds included pitches, dressing rooms and an indoor hall. [2]
An opening announced
In August 2017 the club announced a formal opening ceremony for its Gracedieu complex, with former GAA president Seán Kelly invited to perform it. The notice reported expenditure of €3.3 million on the sixteen-acre site, distinguishing the ceremonial occasion from the move there nine years earlier. [3]
