Place & story
Standing with Glan
The Stand With Glan campaign sought to attract new families as falling pupil numbers threatened a teaching post at Curravagh National School, which serves the Glangevlin area. Interviewed in 2023, historian Brendan Scott recalled that families had moved into the area during the campaign and helped the school continue. The school itself stands three miles from the village, towards Dowra. [2] [3]
Gathering living memories
Tara and Brendan Scott compiled Curravagh NS 1933–2023 and Glangevlin County Cavan to record memories while people who remembered its early years could contribute. Their project extended beyond the school to Glangevlin’s manuscripts, townland names and earlier classrooms. The school reported that Michael Harding launched the book at St Patrick’s Hall, Glangevlin, on 2 December 2023. [2] [4]
