Place & story
The first race and the Temple 100
Local men formed the Temple Motorcycle and Athletic Club in 1921. Ten riders contested its first road race around Temple and Carricknaveagh on 3 September that year, with twenty-year-old Thomas Graham Lindsay winning on an Imperial J.A.P. machine. The club also organised cycling, football and athletics. Its own history records 69 Temple road races across five local circuits. The final Temple 100 took place in 1999; subsequent club racing continued at other venues. [2]
