Place & story
Keeping two teachers
In May 2014, Trentagh National School began funding a bus service from the Letterkenny and Kilmacrennan areas to attract pupils. Falling enrolment had put one of its two teaching posts at risk. Principal Norma Summers and the board of management organised the service as part of their campaign to retain both teachers. By late June, Summers told Donegal Daily that the school had secured sufficient pupils for the following September. The episode records a practical community response to the pressures facing a small rural school. [2] [3]
