Place & story
A thatched village building
The Village Inn at Ballynanerroon Beg began as a farmhouse and was already present in 1838. Its long axis runs at right angles to the road. The architectural inventory records a single-storey building with battered stone walls, a steep thatched roof and neighbouring outbuildings with metal roofs, forming a small vernacular group in the village. [2]
School buildings across the road
Partry’s national school opened in 1972, replacing a school across the road that later became the Monsignor Horan Community Centre. Fire destroyed the newer school in 1991; it was rebuilt that year. In September 2017, amalgamation with SN Choill a’ tSidheáin created St Mary’s National School. An extension followed in 2021. [3]
