Place & story
A long local ministry
Fr Raymond Browne became parish priest of Kilbride at Four Mile House in April 1986. He remained parish priest for 29 years and then served for five years as pastor emeritus, continuing his ministry until his death in November 2020. His community interests included housing for older people and support for people with disabilities. He was buried in the grounds of St Brigid’s Church. [2]
A community memorial
In September 2024, the community prepared to honour Browne with a life-size marble statue near St Brigid’s Church. The memorial committee commissioned Feelystone to make it, following a local fundraising campaign. A special Mass and unveiling were scheduled for 8 September, followed by refreshments in the community centre. [2]
