Place & story
A bridge around 1800
The historic-building survey dates Mourne Beg Bridge to around 1800. Four shallow-curved stone arches carry a slightly humped road above the river, with pointed sandstone cutwaters between them. A smaller flood arch lies to the west. Later repairs introduced concrete blocks and cement into the stonework. [2]
Names on the maps
The survey records the bridge on the 1833 Ordnance Survey map without a name. On the 1854 edition it appears as Mourne Bridge. [2]
