Place & story

The church on Limestone Road

Newington Presbyterian Church on Limestone Road was built in 1951 to designs by Young and Mackenzie. Its four-stage bell tower and surviving interior details reflect the Art Deco influence identified in the official heritage evaluation. An adjoining hall and other community buildings form a group around the church. [2]

From Jubilee Olympic to Newington

Newington's football club began as Jubilee Olympic in 1979 and adopted the name Newington Youth Club in 1986. It won the Irish Junior Cup in 1997 before progressing through intermediate football. A play-off victory over Dollingstown brought promotion to the Northern Ireland Football League for the 2013–14 season. [3]
