Place & story

Messages to the future

On New Year’s Day 2000, members of the 9th Westmeath Milltownpass Scout Group buried a time capsule in the village church grounds. When former members recovered it in January 2025, the milk churn still protected letters to their future selves, shopping receipts, toys, photographs and other keepsakes. They brought it to the community centre to examine the contents. [2]

People & connections

A scouting reunion

Founding leaders and former members gathered for the opening. Loreto Flanagan received Scouting Ireland’s Group Leader Emeritus Award during the afternoon. [2]
