Place & story
Stonework and stained glass
The Church of the Immaculate Conception at Templeboy was built around 1870. Its cruciform plan combines a five-bay nave with projecting transepts. Rubble limestone walls, dressed stone around the pointed windows and wrought-iron roof finials distinguish the exterior. Five-lobed circular windows add another pattern to the stained-glass openings. [2]
A school beside the church
Templeterrace National School dates from about 1876. The architectural survey recorded the former schoolhouse in use as a church hall in 2004. Its three-bay stone front has a projecting entrance porch, while a limestone stile survives in the boundary wall. A path bordered by limestone bollards links the school and church grounds. [3]
