Place & story
The high cross
Moone's granite high cross stands about 5.4 metres high. Its carved panels show biblical episodes including Daniel among the lions, the three children in the fiery furnace, and the loaves and fishes. Animal and bird designs also decorate the stone, making the cross a rich survival of early medieval sculpture. [2]
The Blessed Trinity church
The Catholic Church of the Blessed Trinity stands in the village centre. Built around 1830, it has a T-shaped plan with a nave, transepts and a curved apse. Its restrained exterior contrasts with a decorated plaster ceiling inside. A gateway of locally quarried granite marks the entrance to its grounds. [3]
