People & connections

Jamesy Kelleher’s team

Dungourney won Cork senior hurling championships in 1902, 1907 and 1909. The club’s history recalls the team led by Jamesy Kelleher and its victory while representing Cork in the 1902 All-Ireland championship, against London’s Brian Boru side. Later generations added East Cork junior honours in 1972 and county and Munster junior titles in 2015. [2]

Saint Peter’s

Saint Peter’s Roman Catholic Church dates from about 1810 in the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage. Its interior retains an exposed scissors-truss roof, a marble altar and reredos, and a carved timber gallery with trefoil and quatrefoil decoration. A carved limestone bellcote crowns the north gable. These features preserve several different forms of nineteenth-century craftwork within one building. [3]
