Place & story
Moyallon House
Moyallon House was built for Thomas Christy Wakefield in 1794. It passed to John Grubb Richardson, whose enlargement of the house was recorded in the valuation of 1863. The building reflects wealth generated by the linen trade and preserves a courtyard and associated estate buildings. [2]
A continuing meeting place
The Friends Meeting House and Moyallon Centre share a rural site off Stramore Road. In 2017 the centre marked ten years since opening. Lynn Benson's report to the Ulster Quarterly Meeting recorded its use by a variety of groups, with bookings supporting running costs and gifts funding particular projects. [3] [4]
