People & connections

Remembering Ringland Fisher

A memorial in front of the church commemorates its first pastor, the Reverend Ringland Fisher. Karolyn Cooper recorded the monument on a visit in 2015 and dated it to 1888. Her account also notes that older stones in the adjoining graveyard name the townlands of those buried there, preserving connections between the congregation and the surrounding countryside. [3]

The Girls’ Brigade company

The 136th Northern Ireland Raffrey Presbyterian Girls’ Brigade company was founded in 1955 by the Reverend R. T. A. Marshall and his wife Theo. A parliamentary motion marking its seventieth anniversary in 2025 recorded the company’s activities in marching, physical education, craft and scripture competitions. The motion also acknowledged the officers and volunteers who had sustained the organisation, documenting another strand of the church’s local social role. [4]
