Place & story
A hall for local groups
A council facilities review recorded Windy Hall Community Hall at Tullans Park as a building dating from between 1972 and 1991. It provided a main hall, meeting room, kitchen and sports facilities. Its regular users included the community association’s men’s club, a group for older residents, a youth club and Headway Causeway, reflecting the range of activities gathered under one roof. [2]
A mural of George Best
In June 2011 George Best’s sister Barbara McNarry unveiled a mural of the footballer on the Windyhall Community Building. Artist Ross Wilson worked with young people from Windyhall and Greenmount on the piece. Their project explored sporting heroes through art, bringing together community groups, youth workers and local agencies. Smaller related paintings were displayed inside the building and at Coleraine Leisure Centre. [3]
