Place & story
Monday evening knitting
In a recollection published in 2026, Patricia O’Reilly described how her mother, Rose Hartigan, learned to make export garments in Spiddal and then taught knitting on Monday evenings in Kilnagross’s old primary school. During the 1950s and early 1960s, local women earned extra income through knitting and shared skills and companionship. [2]
The present school
Scoil Naomh Brighid identifies its location as Kiltoghert parish, between Sheebeg and Sheemore. Its own account records a refurbishment in 2010, with outdoor facilities including a football field and basketball court. [3]
