Place & story
Saint Colman’s at the crossroads
Saint Colman’s Church was built in 1913 under Father Jeremiah Murphy. Its foundation inscription identifies Brian Sheehy as architect and John Ryan & Sons as builders. The architectural survey highlights its early use of textured, rusticated concrete. Inside are a timber gallery reached by a cast-iron spiral staircase, a scissor-truss roof and a limestone font dated 1746. The building occupies the village crossroads. [2]
Fields used by Kilcolman Rovers
Kilcolman Rovers joined the Desmond League in 1968. Its own history records several changes of ground, including a move to Dan Mulcahy’s field in Kilcolman in 1987. After playing for a period in Coolcappa, the club used Con Cremin’s field in Kilcolman before relocating to Ardagh’s Community Field in 2000. The sequence records the club’s local roots while distinguishing its later home from Kilcolman itself. [3]
