Place & story
Replacing Richill school
Lisnagry National School was built in 1961 to replace the older school known locally as Richill National School. Its three classrooms initially accommodated between 80 and 100 boys and girls. The school’s own history records a doubling of pupil numbers during the area’s rapid expansion in the 1970s. [2]
Successive extensions
Renovations in 1991 brought three additional classrooms, an all-purpose room and a staffroom. A further extension in 2005 added four classrooms alongside a computer room, gym and other facilities. Another classroom followed in 2010 and two more in 2017, marking successive stages in the growth of the local school. [2]
