Place & story

Neighbours organising together

Strathroy Community Association, established in the 1970s, worked with Strathroy Harps Football Club during the COVID-19 pandemic. In its account published by the district council, the association described distributing food parcels and hot meals from early March and running a community food bank. [2]

Its support included food packs for Syrian families marking the end of Ramadan and meals for local children. Volunteers from the association and football club also collected more than thirty bags of rubbish in a community clean-up. Fermanagh and Omagh District Council provided £7,000 towards the association’s work. [2]
