Place & story

From hall to hotel

Knockatallon Development Company was established in 1994. According to its own history, plans to revive the deteriorating parish hall developed into the Sliabh Beagh Hotel and Tourism Centre, which opened in 2000. Located at Corlatt, the enterprise reinvests its surplus in local facilities and services, including meeting space and subsidised meals. [2]

Saint Joseph’s school

Saint Joseph’s National School records that its present building dates from 1940 and was refurbished in 2008. It amalgamated with Barratitoppy School in 1997. The earlier school stood near the crossroads on the road to Knockatallon chapel. [3]
