Place & story
The railway over the road
A single-arch railway bridge at Lisnalong was built in 1860 to carry the embanked Shantonagh Junction to Cootehill line over a road. Limestone masonry is combined with rusticated sandstone around the arch. The National Inventory of Architectural Heritage recorded the bridge as disused in its 2012 survey. [2]
Ballynascarva Bridge
Nearby Ballynascarva Bridge carries a road across the Dromore River at the Lisnalong and Clossagh More boundary. Dated approximately to 1790 by the architectural inventory, its four arches and humpback profile belong to an earlier phase of transport. V-shaped cutwaters divide the river flow at its piers. [3]
