Place & story

Fifty years of the school

Rathgormack National School marked its fiftieth anniversary on 16 June 2023. Former staff, pupils and neighbours gathered for displays of photographs and roll books. Children also explored the village’s earlier schools, including the building used from 1909 to 1973. [2]

A centre and recreation space

The community development group formed in January 1998 after four years of fundraising. It opened the Hiking and Community Centre in 2000, with hostel accommodation, meeting space and a sports hall. Clodiagh Playground followed in November 2010, and the adjacent Comeragh Amenity Area opened in July 2019. [3]
