Place & story
A church assembled in 1862
Lurganboy's Church of Ireland chapel arrived as a kit on horse-drawn transport in 1861 and was erected the following year. It provided additional accommodation for the congregations of Manorhamilton and Glencar. RTÉ's 2022 report described the church standing on the site of the former military barracks. [2]
A community gathering place
By 2022 the village had lost its shop, pub and creamery. The chapel had become a meeting place beyond its congregation, and residents were planning new community uses while raising funds for conservation. A flower exhibition that August helped launch the appeal, displaying arrangements linked with the building's history. [2]
