Place & story
Two periods in one building
Knockavilla’s Church of the Assumption was built in 1806 with a T-shaped plan. Porches added in 1917 introduced rock-faced limestone against the building’s dashed walls; the entrance doorway carries that year on its keystone. Inside, the architectural survey records galleries in both the nave and transepts, with decorative timber rails. A timber backdrop behind the altar and a carved limestone baptismal font add further detail to the interior. [2]
