Place & story
The church’s form
Saint Peter’s Catholic Church is dated to 1793 by the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage. Its T-shaped plan has a nave with three bays along each side, single-bay transepts and a chancel. A bellcote rises over the slate-roofed building. [2]
A later building campaign
The Dictionary of Irish Architects records Patrick Joseph Sheahan in connection with building work at the church in 1956. Notices inviting tenders appeared in the Irish Builder that April. This documents a later campaign, although the brief record does not specify the completed alterations. [3]
