Place & story
Saint Peter’s Church
Saint Peter’s was built in 1801–1803 and carries the date 1803. Its T-shaped plan brings the nave and transepts together at the chancel. A projecting porch and granite bellcote mark the entrance. The building underwent interior work in 1876, followed by a reordering of the sanctuary in 1977 and rededication in 2003. [2]
The 1887 schoolhouse
The old national school bears an 1887 granite date stone between its central windows. Its stone walls have red-brick corner details and window surrounds, while a double-gabled porch projects from the centre. Built to a standard Board of Public Works design, the school was enlarged in 1936 and closed in 1991. It succeeded an earlier school beside the church entrance. [3]
