Place & story
An unsuccessful rendezvous
William John Kelly recalled travelling with Albert Tally to Gortavoy near Pomeroy in May or June 1918. They were to meet Jack Shields and men from Benburb before a planned attack on Broughderg RIC barracks. After waiting for several hours, they returned home. Kelly blamed the failed meeting on poor organisation among the Volunteers. [2]
