Place & story
A shop beside a proposed road
In a 2021 interview, TP O’Reilly recalled his father Peter seeking permission for petrol pumps beside the shop he ran with his wife Mary in late 1968. The council refused because a proposed Virginia bypass might cross the site. The couple subsequently established Lisgrey House farther along the road. Their son Philip was running that business when another preferred bypass route was announced in 2021. [2]
