Place & story
A church replaced in the twentieth century
Kilkee parish records a chapel at Lisdeen by 1760 and another built between 1806 and 1810. The later building had a cruciform plan and a roof of pointed flagstones. It was eventually demolished after St Flannan’s Church was built at Garraun in 1963. The replacement received its altar, seats and other furnishings from the old church at Kilkee, rather than from Lisdeen. In December 2011 a window depicting St Flannan, also transferred from Kilkee, was dedicated in its sanctuary. [2]
