Place & story
A nineteenth-century landmark
Saint Joseph’s opened in 1873. Its fieldstone walls are banded with contrasting granite, and a three-stage corner tower carries a spire. Inside, timber pews carry Maltese-cross details beneath an exposed timber roof. The architectural survey attributes the design to Bonaventure Pierce through comparison with his church at Cushenstown. [2]
Later work
The church’s stained glass includes memorial windows dating from 1912. The sanctuary was reordered in 1976, and restoration followed in 2000–01. [2]
